Wendell Baptist Church

Mission opportunity

Are you bored after all these weeks of quarantine? Do you sew? Do you have scrap fabric?  Do you have elastic? If you answered “Yes” to those questions, WBC needs you!

Pastor Chris is seeking church members who would be willing to sew masks for those in need.  We would first like to offer masks to any of our church members (men, women and children). Secondly, we would also offer to regular attendees who may not be members and others in our surrounding community. Third, if we have enough sewers, we may have an opportunity through Dr. Scott Kellum to provide masks for a group New York.

Catch? Did I mention there’s a catch? You would need to provide your own fabric, elastic (1/4” or 3/8”), wire and thread.  Fabric must be 100% cotton! Masks should be made in a “smoke free”, “pet free”,“fragrance free” environment due to allergy situations of the people who will receive them. Please do not volunteer if you have been sick with cold/flu like symptoms. The good news is, a pattern for the masks is linked here SRP-Mask-Pattern-5-Sizes.pdfThis style uses less fabric than the traditional surgical style. I find it to be more comfortable too.

Thank you for your consideration of this very worthwhile project. If you are interested, contact Bobbie Sue Rudder bsrudder@gmail.com for more specific information.
